Objective
To develop an iOS application to support baristas, defined as the target audience after an in-depth product research phase with coffee professionals. The goal was to create a discovery-driven experience that values both the quality of coffee and the expertise of baristas.
Process
The project was developed as a team at the Apple Developer Academy PUCPR and was strongly grounded in product research, including interviews with baristas, café owners, and a coffee instructor. Based on these insights, we designed features focused on coffee shop discovery and fostering connections between users and baristas. From a technical perspective, the app was implemented using SwiftUI, with MapKit and CoreLocation supporting location-based features. A data pipeline was also planned using Google Places API, Firebase, and AI resources to enrich data before storing it in the database. During implementation, technical limitations and external API costs prevented full execution, leading to valuable learnings about feasibility, technical trade-offs, and product decision-making. Although the project was not published, it represents a complete cycle of research, ideation, and technical validation.
